The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. Pertussis is also known as whooping cough, a highly contagious upper respiratory infection that can be extremely dangerous for infants. It is important for expecting mothers to get the Tdap vaccine during their pregnancy to help provide protection to their newborn baby.
