What is AI / Who will WIN the AI Race? What is ChatGPT? Well, According to Wikipedia, ChatGPT or Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer is a chatbot developed by the company OpenAI and launched in November of 2022. It quickly gathered attention for its detailed responses and articulate answers across many domains of knowledge. Users type a query into the program, and it would generate answers. The answers are pretty well written, however, the program also suffers from multiple limitations, sometimes writing plausible-sounding but incorrect nonsensical answers. This behavior is commonly known as AI Hallucination. In the months since its release, ChatGPT has met widespread criticism from educators, journalists, artists, academics, and public advocates. Microsoft Investment in OpenAI This hasn’t deterred Microsoft from investing billions of dollars into OpenAI last month. The company said it would integrate AI into the Bing search engine. Users will be able to make queries to ChatGPT alongside traditional searches. ChatGPT obtained 100 million users in just two months after launch, making it the quickest-growing internet service in history. So how is Google responding? Google’s Response You have to remember; Google still dominates the majority of searches on the web as the number 1 search engine in the world. Their response is simple: BARD, an AI chatbot built using Google’s technology, which is similar to OpenAI’s GPT series of AI language models that help power ChatGPT. Google says it’s planning to open up access to its Bard chatbot more widely in the coming weeks. So the question then is: which one is better? ChatGPT or Bard? ChatGPT vs Bard According to TechTarget: “The main difference between ChatGPT and Bard is the data source. Bard will continually draw information from the internet, so it will have the latest information. ChatGPT's sources end with 2021 data, so is limited to newer research and information. Bard will have more data to gather information in real-time by accessing the latest research.” The winner is clear when I comes to the latest Sources of Information, but they both still have their limitations. But what about Amazon? Amazon has been working on ChatGPT-like AI for a long time, according to their CEO Andy Jassy. Learning technology can be found across Amazon Web Services and Amazon's operations (Amazon has voice assistant, Alexa, and code recommendation generator, CodeWhisperer). But the company is looking into Stability AI — a competitor to the Microsoft-backed OpenAI — which has declared Amazon its "preferred cloud partner" to train and build its AI models. OpenAI vs StabilityAI Now the battle is between OpenAI and Stability AI. OpenAI's research focuses on developing AI systems that are safe, transparent, and beneficial to society. Stability AI is designed to be robust and resilient to changes in the environment. Both types of AI can help businesses and organizations make better decisions and improve their operations. And we haven’t even mentioned Apple or Facebook, they are both big tech giants that have unlimited personal and business data they could use to improve their platforms and compete with the rest of the world.
