Here are 5 things to consider when deciding whether to leave your investment advisor (plus one bonus tip). Personal Capital Fee Analyzer: https://robberger.com/go/personal-capital-fee-analyzer/yt-fire-advisor This video is in response to the following question a viewer recently asked me: "Should I dissolve my relationship with my financial advisor? They charge “just 1%”, as they say. Here’s why I’m hesitating: They manage my traditional IRA and one of my taxable accounts, and together that’s about 1/3 of my total stock/bond investments. Mercifully, the portfolio is made up of very low cost index funds in Vanguard, Wisdom Tree, and i shares. They do not manage my 401(k) or my separate taxable account in Vanguard (invested much more simply in roughly 75% S&P 500, 10% small cap value, and 10% CA munis). The team (including a lawyer looking at my legal stuff) helped counsel me about a home refi, disability insurance, and made me realize I had to update my trust. I’m assuming that was included in the 1%. So yes, there is a crushing 1% fee - but is it crazy for me to think of it as only 0.33% since they advise me on everything?"
