Komura's visit to Pakistan is partly aimed at clarifying Japan's stance on anti-terrorism measures, since the issue is seen being part of the agenda during the Group of Eight summit, according to Japanese officials. The main summit of the nations' leaders in July will be held at the Lake Toya on Japan's main island of Hokkaido. Komura is also scheduled to meet Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. During the visit, Komura plans to talk with the Pakistani leaders on consolidating democracy and economic support measures. A Japanese foreign minister last visited Pakistan in January 2006, when former Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso was in the post. Komura is scheduled to return to Japan on Monday.
