Fashion Historian and Harris Curator, Scott Schiavone takes us on a fashion journey in relation to three iconic yellow dresses from the Harris collection. The Harris recently acquired a yellow dress and bra worn by Claire, the alter ego of Grayson Perry, a renowned artist who explores themes of gender, sexuality, and identity in his art. The dress was designed by a student at Central St Martin's as part of a collaborative project with Grayson Perry, who briefs the students on how he wants Claire to look and feel. The dress also shows signs of wear, with makeup stains possibly from lipstick or blusher, indicating it was worn by Claire, which adds to its cultural significance. The yellow colour of Claire's dress connects it to two other yellow dresses in the Harris collection: Pauline's Yellow Dress and Horrockses Fashions Paolozzi cocktail dress. All three dresses connect through the concept of identity, igniting discussions over how we define ourselves. Loved this video?
