Donald Trump is touting his plans to make America a “tariff nation,” claiming that his tariffs would not raise taxes for Americans but instead for countries like China and the European Union. However, @sorkinsays explained on #MorningJoe that the reality is quite different. Tariffs push the cost onto U.S. consumers, meaning everyday Americans end up paying more for products at stores like Walmart, debunking Trump’s claims. “When you put a tariff on a product, it is not that the other country gets taxed per se, it’s that the cost gets pushed onto the consumer here in the U.S... How Trump can speak the way he does about what he thinks the tariff is going to do — it’s just not the reality of the situation.” » Subscribe to MSNBC: https://www.youtube.com/msnbc Download our new MSNBC app for the latest breaking news and daily headlines at a glance: https://www.msnbc.com/information/download-msnbc-app-n1241692 Follow MSNBC Show Blogs MaddowBlog: https://www.msnbc.com/maddowblog ReidOut Blog: https://www.msnbc.com/reidoutblog MSNBC delivers breaking news, in-depth analysis of politics headlines, as well as commentary and informed perspectives.
