This lesson is about playing chord tones while soloing. If you play the chord changes you will sound more melodic and play better solos. We use the Pentatonic Scale and target the correct notes over each chord. We talk about understanding the chord progression, picking a scale, understanding chord construction and the intervals within the scale. Knowing the intervals is extremely important to understanding the fretboard and making sure you are targeting the right notes to play over the chord changes. I use the Chord Progression from Old Number 7 by The Devil Makes Three as an example for this lesson. I am not teaching the actual solo from the song. I am just teaching how to improvise over the chord progression by targeting the chord tones.
