A civil complaint must include the facts of the situation, numbered allegations, and what the individuals hopes to get out of their complaint, which is usually money. The part that brings the complaint to the court is the plaintiff, and the party being sued is the defendant. The plaintiff must pay a fee to file their complaint. After paying this fee, the defendant is notified of the complaint and has 21 days to file an answer to settle the dispute in court. If the defendant does not answer, the court may rule in favor of the plaintiff by default. If the court rules in favor of the plaintiff, the defendant must pay a compensation amount determined by the judge. If the defendant and the plaintiff come to an agreement without trial, the plaintiff will dismiss the complain and the court will lose the case.
