Learn how to make your own delicious homemade vanilla extract. It's so much cheaper than buying premade. It tastes so much better too! Start with new vanilla beans - grade A or B will work. Open the package and use a sharp knife to split the beans down the center. Put each bean into the alcohol bottle. You may need to pour a small portion of alcohol out of the bottle. Cocktails anyone? 🍸😃 Once all the beans are in the bottle, cap it back up and shake it. You'll want to store it in a dark, cool location and shake every 2 weeks for a few months. The extract will be ready in about 6 months and makes an absolutely wonderful Christmas gift. The difference between Grade A and Grade B vanilla beans: Grade A vanilla beans are longer, plumper, and have a higher moisture content than grade B vanilla beans. They also have a shiny, oily exterior, and are free of any blemishes or defects. Grade B vanilla beans, on the other hand, are shorter, thinner, and have a lower moisture content. https://www.beanilla.com/blog/grade-a-vs-grade-b-vanilla-beans Since we'll be soaking the beans in alcohol for 6 months or longer, the grade B work perfectly well. _____________ Affiliate Links: Small swing-top bottles: https://amzn.to/4abUdzj Large swing-top bottles: https://amzn.to/4amFEJc 12 Grade A Vanilla Beans: https://amzn.to/3U517jd 25 Grade B Vanilla Beans: https://amzn.to/4aGL5CB 50 Grade B Vanilla Beans: https://amzn.to/49qSd4S #vanilla #homemade #homemadefood #cooking #cookingathome #baking #bakingingredients #extracts #vanillaextract
