Lawrence Murray and Dr. Judith Korner, an endocrinologist and diabetes specialist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City, discuss Mr. Murray's experience at the Hospital's Weight Control Center. Mr. Murray, a diabetic with extremely high glucose levels, was in poor health: frequent urination, dizziness, blurry vision, and fatigue. He was admitted to the Weight Control Center as part of a research study. For several weeks, he consumed a modified diet coupled with exercise. Within a week his insulin dependence was reduced; by discharge he no longer required insulin. His story is inspiring.
