In UPSC mains, if we talk about GS3, there are 2-3 things in the book list. One is Indian economy handbook to cover the basics of economy. This is to cover internal security. Now coming to the other subjects which are part of GS3, which is science and tech, disaster management and environment. These 3 subjects have a weightage of 30-40 marks. Major weightage is obviously economy 125 marks and internal security 50 marks. So, the remaining 3 subjects are quite spread out. For science and tech, you will prepare for prelims which is these 3 NCERTs from class 9th, 10th and 12th, biology specifically. But for disaster management, there is a very simple strategy. On NDMA's website, you will find all the major disasters like earthquakes, floods, cyclones. You can take the guidelines of every big disaster which has been in the news for the last 2-3 years from NDMA's website itself. And finally, if we talk about environment, we will cover the basic problems for the environment by supplementing it with current affairs.
