In this lecture, I introduce my lecture series on Middle East politics. In the process, students will learn the origins of the term Middle East and why it is studied as a region. In the process, students will also learn about common stereotypes of the region, and why it is important to avoid such stereotypes and rely on data and scientific analysis to understand the region.
