Welcome to the Fashion &… Book Club where I discuss and recommend fashion books that are essential reading for any fashion aficionado! This week’s Fashion &… Book Club choice is D.V. by Diana Vreeland. D.V. is a madcap romp through the world of famed fashion Editor, Diana Vreeland.  Not to be taken too literally, the narrative of the book is artificial, and appallingly aristocratic however, Vreeland’s high camp persona is pure comedy gold – you can’t help but laugh at its absurdity! Diana Vreeland ruled over the fashion world for over 50 years. Vreeland used the pages of magazines to communicate to her audience her love of the bizarre and the absurd, advocating the mix of High and Low fashion, blending couture with what was happening on the Streets.   She created the modern fashion magazine and also transformed the world of fashion in museums through her tenure at The Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute.
