Some of the basic spiking drills I like to take athletes through to build the fundamentals of contact accuracy, the Spiking Sequence, and timing. After drills like these athletes usually feel like they are able to use their whole body to produce force and connect it a lot better to actually put the force into the ball explosively. I recommend drills like these be done consistently for weeks/months depending on the athlete to build a solid foundation. Some also need very specific Spiking Sequence work to develop an optimal pattern. Mobility and strength (general and low level specific prep) work are also keys that need to be worked on and progressed appropriately as the athlete develops. A lot to it!
