The BMW i3 electric sedan is exclusive to China. It is based on the long wheelbase 3 Series and manufactured through a joint venture between BMW and Brilliance. This sedan version of the i3 is derived from the 3 Series Facelift and has a rear-wheel-drive system powered by an electric motor located at the back. The i3 utilizes a similar powertrain as BMW’s latest electric offerings such as the i4, iX, and the iX3. You might have observed the letter "L" added to the i3's name, which signifies a more extended wheelbase. The i3 L model has an additional 4.3 inches of space between the wheels when compared to the regular 3-series sedan. In China, there is a higher demand for long-wheelbase versions of luxury sedans due to the prevalence of chauffeurs, which is less common in other places.
