B.C. Premier David Eby said Prime Minister Mark Carney debriefed all the premiers on Wednesday morning following his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Tuesday. Despite the ongoing trade war, Trump and Carney appeared to get along well during their first face-to-face meeting at the White House. The two leaders spent about two hours together, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office before heading into private discussions. Eby told reporters at a press conference following his meeting with Carney, "That there was a sense of, of a different, level of engagement that the president, is, respectful of the prime minister, and, and we were all grateful, that the meeting, went the way that it did, knowing how some other meetings have gone in that exact same office with other world leaders." Eby said the premiers also spoke about several topics of importance to British Columbians, including the film industry and the softwood lumber industry.
