This is why I don't follow Dave Ramsey's Outdated Baby Steps anymore. Along my debt free journey, I used Dave Ramsey's baby steps to get out of debt. However I quickly found I needed to modify the steps. Some of the steps seemed to be a bit out of date and I needed to change them to keep up with my needs as I got out of debt, built an emergency fund, and began my journey to financial independence. From the starter emergency fund, debt snowball, long term emergency fund, retirement investing, there has been lots of criticism of Dave Ramsey and his baby steps. Especially around his investing advice. Today I try my best to make my argument against his baby steps while also taking an objective stance, arguing against myself. When I consider the events surrounding Chris Hogan, I have decided to move on and expand my knowledge beyond Dave Ramsey. I have always studied other leaders in personal finance and have long felt I learned all I could from Ramsey. His commentary about the poor, his behavior on and off air, and his abrasive nature are hard to ignore at this point. I always cared more for the plan than I did for him. I have nothing against him, but I do not align with his ideology or decisions.
