I’m Dr. Blake Shusterman and here are cooking safety tips for your BBQ. Don’t use wire grill brushes - wire stuck on the grates, then on the food and I've seen cases where it has caused injuries to the mouth and there are even case reports of these little wire bristles making it all the way down to your intestines and poking a hole in them. That can lead to intestinal perforation and make people very sick. Find a different type of brush. Be careful with your alcohol consumption. Not only can it make you reckless with fireworks but it can increase your risk of drowning if you're drinking around a body of water. If you’re cooking with mayonnaise, and it better be Dukes if you are, don’t leave the foods like potato salad out in the heat for more than an hour and to be even more safe, keep them in a cooler instead of leaving them out on the table. In just a couple of hours your potato salad could be crawling with bacteria that can lead to food poisoning. Have a happy and safe BBQ everyone. #Happy4th #4thofJuly #IndependenceDay #BBQSafety #ChangeYourBuds #barbecue
