This video walks us through the steps needed to ace the multiple-choice section of the New York States English Regents Exam! 1.) Read and annotate the questions: Underline the location of the answers within the question. Circle the keywords in the questions. Ask yourself: What information are you looking for? What are the content words in the question? 2.) Annotate the text: Mark the part of the text that the question pertains to. Write the question # and rewrite the question using key words next to the marked part of the text. 3.) Read the text: Read once for general understanding. Annotate the “charge” of the text. (Is it positive? Negative? Neutral?). Reread slowly and focus on the marked parts. 4.) Eliminate at least two answers. Look for answers that: are too positive or negative depending on the charge of the text; contain words or phrases that are unrelated to the article; or are true, but do not answer the question. 5.) Choose the answer out of the 2 left based on evidence from the text. Never guess! Thanks for watching!
